Louisville Craft Beer Week information overview.

LOUISVILLE CRAFT BEER WEEK 2010
www.louisvillecraftbeerweek.com
Sept. 24 – Oct. 2, 2010
Educate … Inspire … Imbibe

We’re happy to announce the first annual Louisville Craft Beer Week. For nine consecutive hop- and malt-packed days, from Friday, September 24 through Saturday, (October 2), Louisville Craft Beer Week is everywhere, with themed craft beer festivals, craft beer tastings, craft beer dinners, craft beer samplings, and even a motorized craft beer pub crawl.

Louisville Craft Beer Week is all of us: Breweries and wholesalers, package retailers and pubs, bars and restaurants, homebrewers and serial growler fillers.

Most importantly, Louisville Craft Beer Week is you: Craft beer lovers living, working and playing right here in our region. Your patronage and enthusiasm makes it happen for all of us, and we thank you.

Louisville Craft Beer Week is modeled on similar celebrations in places like Philadelphia and Cleveland, but whatever the locale, the intent remains the same: Showcasing the incredible variety, dynamism and expanding market presence of craft brewing in America.

When you’re out and about during Louisville Craft Beer Week, always drink responsibly and whatever you do, don’t drive drunk.

Goose Island + 610 Magnolia = Beer Dinner on Wednesday, September 29.

Join 610 and Goose Island’s Lindsey Shafer in the Wine Studio as 610 features the fabulous beers of Goose Island from Chicago.

Wednesday, September 29
Goose Island Beer Dinner at 610 Magnolia
610 Magnolia
610 Magnolia Street, Louisville KY
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

When the first Goose Island Brewpub opened its doors in 1988, domestic, mass-produced beer was deeply ingrained in Midwestern culture. The craft beer industry was still in its infancy, with only a handful of brewpubs in existence in the Midwest. Goose Island’s brewers set to work crafting a diverse selection of unique beers – and on Friday, May 13, 1988 the Goose Island Brewpub was born. Chef Lee and the team at 610 will showcase the distinct flavor profiles of hand-picked Goose Island selections with a four-course dinner artfully crafted for your dining and drinking pleasure.

Price is $60 per person, including dinner with beer pairings. Please RSVP.

On the 7th day, craft with a view: LCBW Indiana vs. Kentucky Draft Day at Rocky's Sub Pub on Thursday, September 30.

In fact, Rocky's opened on the very day that Elvis died, in 1977. On the 30th, Tom will unveil an excellent lineup of Indiana and Kentucky craft beers, including the local debut of Indy's red-hot Sun King.

LCBW Golf Scramble!!!

Hey, all. We're here with an exciting announcement for all of you Louisville Craft Beer Week supporters.

On Monday August 9th, we'll be putting on the 1st LCBW Golf Scramble to help us raise funds for all the great events we are planning for Louisville Craft Beer Week. The event will take place at Glen Oaks Country Club, beginning at 9 a.m. Cost for the scramble will be $70/person. That price will include greens fees, cart, lunch and refreshments (soda, water and, of course, beer). We are in need of 27 teams in order to pull this off. Its going to be a great event.

Unable to play, but you'd still like to help out? We will be selling Hole Sponsorships for $75/hole. This is a great way to get your name out there as a supporter of LCBW and Craft Beer in general.

The money we are trying to raise will go to help us pay for events such at a Craft Beer Cruise on the Belle of Louisville and Volksfest (the closing party for the 1st Annual LCBW). These events will generate revenue, and any extra monies collected past our expenses will be divided between our four charities (Juvenille Diabetes Research Fund, WHAS Crusade for Children, Kentucky Humane Society and Kentucky Waterways Foundation).

We will have registration forms available very soon. So, if you are interested in participating or sponsoring a hole, please contact us via e-mail at: claycarpenter@bryantdistributing.com

Thanks you all for your support of Louisville Craft Beer Week. We're looking forward to celebrating Craft Beer in Louisville with you all in September. Cheers, all.

Welcome!!!

Welcome to the official Louisville Craft Beer Week blog! Hopefully, most of you are already aware of us through our Facebook page. If not, let us take a minute to tell you all a little bit about ourselves.

In January of 2010, the simple idea of the first ever Louisville Craft Beer Week began. Quickly, this idea spawned the Beer Brain Trust. We are a motley crew made up of Craft Brewers, Brewery Representatives and Craft Beer Distributors. Our humble goal was to create an event that would celebrate all that is good and pure about Craft Beer. We adopted the motto, "Educate...Inspire...Imbibe". This should tell you all you need to know about us. We seek to educate those interested in Craft Beer, inspire those who have not yet converted and imbibe this delicious nectar which we have all dedicated our lives and careers to promoting.

Beginning on Friday September 24th and continuing to Saturday October 2nd, LCBW will feature multiple beer events everyday. There will be daily tastings at most local stores selling craft beer. There will be beer dinners, pint nights, happy hour specials and assorted festivals. All events will feature Craft Beer from breweries around the country, hopefully including brewery reps for you to meet and talk to.

The Beer Brain Trust is busy as we speak lining up the major events for the week. Details will be finalized soon, and we'll get them to you as soon as we can. We can tell you, however, that LCBW will end on October 2nd at the BBC Taproom downtown with their annual Volksfest. There will be bands, a possible Louisville pizza "Throwdown" and, of course, lots of good Craft Beer (including a special barrel-aged beer section).

So, that's it in a nutshell. We will be posting updates as we get them, so stay tuned. If you have any questions about the week, feel free to e-mail us at: louisvillecraftbeerweek@gmail.com
Cheers, all...
